Class Information
4 week Series:
Monthly group classes for parents planning a low intervention birth are hosted at The Special Delivery Co in Arlington. This class will definitely gear towards community based birth, and practices with the midwifery team at the Special Delivery Co, but all are welcome!
This class is great for first time parents, or families that are looking for a comprehensive, information loaded course to help them navigate the end of pregnancy, and prepare for labor and birth, as well as early parenthood. We will meet once a week for four weeks. This course is focused around unmedicated birth, but we will cover the following: what to expect in the last weeks of pregnancy, how to prepare for labor and birth, stages of labor, coping techniques, and comfort measures, options and interventions, in community settings, and in the case of hospital transfer, postpartum care, what to expect with a newborn, and infant feeding.
Classes are casual, conversational, and hands on. Most families take a childbirth education series in their third trimester.
We meet at the birth center in Arlington on Fridays at 6:00pm. Space is limited, so please reach out if you would like to join in any of the classes listed below.
Refresher Series:
Lead by Brandi of Roots Deep Birth Services, this series is ideal for families who already have had babies, and are seeking a refresher in preparation for subsequent births. These classes are intended to be educational, interactive, and help prepare both parents for the journey of birth. Topics covered will include stages of labor, comfort measures and coping techniques, options and interventions, and more. A parent companion book will be provided.
